Equilibrio, the festival dedicated to contemporary dance that for 15 years has brought the best of international choreography to the Auditorium, is back after a two-year forced stop.
The festival comes back to life with a multifaceted program: 7 big evenings in Sala Petrassi, 10 titles for 10 companies, 5 choreographers and 3 choreographers, 3 Golden Lions, a composer, 4 Italian premieres, a performance for families and a Night at the Auditorium for boys and girls, a path for high schools, a new production with the Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble, a vertical dance intervention in the city and then more meetings and documents.
Among the international names that stand out are those of Israeli Sharon Eyal with Tanzmainz, the historic exponent of nouvelle danse Maguy Marin, composer and performer Pamela Z, the iconic Marcos Morau and - for the first time in Rome - the Ballet of Difference by Richard Siegal, a choreographer with a distinctive trait, recently invited to create a new show for Pina Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal.
The Italians are the Golden Lion Alessandro Sciarroni, the ironic Silvia Gribaudi, the superkinetic Francesca Pennini and Cristiana Morganti, a Roman artist, former interpreter of Pina Bausch, whose authorial path Equilibrio has followed since the beginning.
For a cameo the extraordinary name of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker will be included in a re-creation process conducted by the Accademia Nazionale di Danza around an extract of the show "Rosas danst Rosas", which Equilibrio presented in its Italian premiere in 2009.
A prestigious preview of the Festival will see the collaboration of Fondazione Musica per Roma with Teatro di Roma - Teatro Nazionale within Grandi Pianure, for the co-production of the first Roman appearance of the Greek choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou: the three replicas of Transverse Orientation will be a preview of Equilibrio 2022 within the season of Teatro di Roma.
